A fan favourite, Pat Lambie is a true icon of the Cell C Sharks, as a born-and bred son of the province, and a much respected team-mate and opponent. Lion-hearted on defence and an attacking player who is gifted with the ability to enjoy time and space on the ball. The esteem in which he is held and his leadership qualities that have been identified, together with his playing ability make him the ideal captain for the 2016 Vodacom Super Rugby campaign.
He was the youngest member of the Springboks’ Rugby World Cup squad in 2011 aged just 21 and in that year was awarded the SA Rugby Young Player of the Year honour, with nominations in the SA Rugby Player of the Year category in 2011 and 2012. He has played in two Rugby World Cups and amassed 50 Test caps for the Springboks, by age 25.
