Rhino Rugby South Africa (Pty) Ltd is proud to announce that we have concluded an Official Supplier Agreement with The Sharks Rugby Union which will see Rhino South Africa supplying the world’s best Scrumming Equipment and Rugby Technical Training Equipment to The Cell C Sharks Super Rugby Team and Currie Cup Teams in a 3 year agreement.

One of the objectives of this partnership is to assist The Cell C Sharks to develop their talent pool by exposing the schools and clubs in their region to higher technical skills and conditioning levels by utilising the Rhino training techniques and equipment. This will assist with bringing the larger player pool in this region in line with International developments in this critically important area of the game. Northern Hemisphere countries and unions have been exposed to this equipment and training techniques for almost 8 years now. While South African has an abundance of raw talent our technical skills lack development and our schools and clubs have to catch-up to our Northern Hemisphere counterparts. This ultimately affects the various Super Rugby franchises, unions and our National Teams. The objective is to close the gap from a skills and technical perspective with the rest of the rugby world.

Albert Pestana, Rhino Rugby South Africa, comments: “We are delighted to announce this partnership with the Cell C Sharks. Getting the Rhino Equipment into The Cell C Sharks teams is a major breakthrough for Rhino South Africa. We now have an additional Super Rugby Team officially using our equipment. We are looking forward to working with The Cell C Sharks Coaches and Players during the forthcoming Super Rugby Season as well as the Currie Cup Rugby Tournament. We are excited at the opportunity of getting involved in their grassroots development initiatives within their region as well.”

Reg Clark, Group CEO of Rhino Rugby commented: “Rhino has a long and rich history in South African rugby, going all the way back to the early 1980’s when the ground breaking Powerhouse, the world’s first mass produced scrum machine, took off in that market first before being taken up elsewhere in the world. I congratulate Rhino SA on their breakthrough deal with the Cell C Sharks – we look forward enormously to working with them in the coming years”.

Gary Teichmann, CEO of the Cell C Sharks, comments: “We are excited about our association with Rhino Rugby, who are leaders in the field of producing superior high-tech training equipment. The use of their equipment will further strengthen the Cell C Sharks goals for 2017, as we strive for excellence.

Robert Du Preez, Head Coach of The Cell C Sharks, comments: “Contact is an integral part of our training sessions and the addition of the functional training equipment supplied by Rhino Rugby is welcomed and will ensure that we always train at our optimum.”
