Round three of the Fidelity ADT Premier Division produced some entertaining rugby with high scoring games, which saw SA Home Loans Durban Collegians dispatching Standard Bank Richards Bay with the biggest score line of the weekend with a massive 92-5 victory on their home grounds on Saturday afternoon.


The Third Round kicked off on Friday evening with the home side College Rovers beating eThekwini Refractories 38-10 in arguably the most entertaining game of the weekend after leading 24-3 with their bonus point already in the bag.


The slippery conditions  caused by the evening  dew  didn’t make handling that easy and there were countless handling errors on the night. Rovers did have some magic moments none the less and went on to score six tries to one with their talented new No 8 Ntasanti Fisanti once again leading the charge with two tries while wings Sergio Torrens and Alcino Isaac, fullback Gav Scott and Msuli Mncwango coming off the bench crossed for the other touchdowns.


Skipper Scott slotted four conversions and Curtis Jonas one.


Rovers will host the Royal Artillery RFC Wednesday (tonight)  at 6pm after the visitors destroyed First Division North Section side Sentraal with a convincing 77-0 win  in Dundee on Sunday afternoon. The visitors had led 36-0 at the interval before closing the game with 41 second half points.


The South Coast Terriers to their credit didn’t lie down and die and in fact looked threatening in the closing stages of the game. It was only great defense by Rovers that kept them at bay, but they did eventually manage to cross for a try by hooker Aphiwe Febana in the dying seconds of the game. Flyhalf Justin Bekker kicked a conversion and a penalty.


Across the Umgeni at Riverside Sports Varsity College hosted the annual Inter Intervarsity Supporters Day with the hosts beating FNB UKZN Pietermaritzburg 48-20 in a game that also had its moments but spoilt with  numerous handling errors, which manly affected the students from the capital. Center Philo Sobahla led the eight try blitz with two touchdowns while wing Chess McCarthy, flank Dominic Rivalland, hooker Donavan Grant, fullback Malcolm Cele and flyhalf Maarten Holtzhausen who also shared the kicks with scrumhalf Blessing Buthelezi.


UKZN replied with tries by center Lindani Ndela and coming off the bench Jaendre Freitas and  Kwanela Ngobesi with visiting Lithuanian flyhallf Eimantas Bagarauskas kicking a conversion and a well executed drop goal rounding off a great game for ‘The Whites.’


In the First Division South Coast Warriors beat their visitors Westville Old Boys 34-29 while Jaguar Land Rover Durban Hillcrest had a good away win beating Drakensberg 38-22 and Jaguars overcame Maritzburg Collegians beating the side from the capital 24-14.


South Coast Warriors  still stay top of the log in the Under 20 ‘A’ Division after their convincing 55-19 win over UKZN Midlands while Varsity College sitting in second place on the pog got the better of UKZN Durban with a 34-21 victory and in the game of the weekend Durban Collegians edged out College Rovers 27-24 in and enthralling and exciting game.
