Seeking the Treble

The Cell C Sharks XV travel to Port Elizabeth this weekend to take on the EP Elephants on Sunday afternoon at 2.30pm in an important SuperSport Rugby Challenge clash.

Following on from last weekend’s 82-24 victory over the Border Bulldogs, the Cell C Sharks XV will be looking to deliver a similarly comprehensive performance, although they’re likely to find the going a lot tougher against the Bulldogs’ Eastern Cape neighbours.

EP went down 27-13 to Western Province last weekend and will be out to show the Cell C Sharks XV that they will be no pushovers. EP themselves dispatched the Border Bulldogs 52-3 the previous weekend while a 59-31 victory over SWD Eagles earlier in the season was another emphatic performance they will look back to for confidence.

The Cell C Sharks third victory last weekend meant the team is no in fourth position on the South Section log with the EP Elephants in fifth, while Western Province, with five wins in the bag lead the table ahead of second-placed Free State and Boland, both on 20 points.

In the North Section log, the Pumas currently occupy top spot with maximum points from their five games with Griquas and the Lions trailing in second and third spot respectively.
