Jeandre ‘Lappies’ Labuschagne was born at Ladysmith in Northern KZN, but educated at Maritzburg College and joined The Sharks Academy five years ago with no playing contract. The young second-rower however grabbed the opportunity with both hands, and also grabbed a spectacular try for KZN in the national U19 Championship final in 2018, which KZN won 40-27. In 2021, Labuschagne was selected to play for a composite Invitational team against the Cheetahs, and he has since started carving out a senior career for himself with the Hollywoodbets Sharks in the Currie Cup and United Rugby Championship.
