Zimbabwean-born Tino Mavesere delivered a decisive moment in the 24-6 Currie Cup victory over Griquas in 2023, when he set up a vital try for Bradley Davids with some sublime handling and support play. The 24-year-old was so impressive in his pursuit of the loose ball and in defence, all day long, that coach Joey Mongalo observed: “With more like him in the team, yo’ll never lose a match. He gives you 5/5 on every occasion…” Mavesere, aka ‘The Driller’, was educated at the famous Churchill High School in Harare, and joined the Hollywoodbets Sharks from the Zimbabwe Sables.
