Yaw Penxe set the Hollywoodbets Sharks’ Currie Cup campaign in 2023 alight with a sparkling brace of tries in the early but important 20-7 win against Western Province at home. This compact 26-year-old flyer was a standout performer for the Southern Kings in the Pro14, prior to the Eastern Cape franchise’s financial demise, and in 2020 even staked a claim for higher honours during the Green versus Gold Springbok trials at Newlands. Penxe impressed with his work rate and aggressive running during that trial, and his conscientious chasing nearly landed him a try.
