The 2021 Fidelity Services club rugby league’s kicks off on Saturday after a year of inactivity due to Covid 19 with the perennial log leaders College Rovers SA Home Loans Durban Collegians with home ground advantage in the opening round.
What might appear to some as easy openers for the two top clubs of 2019 it must be understood that they will still be facing unknown quantities in FNB UKZN Pietermaritzburg and Amanzimtoti respectively. Rovers and Durban Collegians after all didn’t feature to well in the recent Flya Knockout competition won by Vox Crusaders for the first time since inception eight years ago.
Crusaders will face Varsity College the very side that they beat in the final of the Flya competition on their home grounds at Ranleigh Crescent. Dave Clarks Varsity College charges, after their opening round Flya victory over Rovers, will no doubt be better prepared this time around against Saders.
The games kick off at 3.30pm.
The First Division South Section league also kicks of this weekend with Dewar Shield holders Westville Old Boys hosting Jaguars, UKZN Durban at home at Howard College against Ballito Dolphins while Mancor Drakensberg from Winterton travel to Shongweni to meet Hillcrest.
