The EPCR Challenge Cup is Europe's second-tier international club rugby competition, sitting below the Investec Champions Cup and featuring 18 teams competing across the pool stage and knockout rounds for the trophy.
The field is drawn from three domestic leagues — the United Rugby Championship, England's Gallagher Premiership and France's Top 14 — supplemented by two invited sides from outside those competitions, the Toyota Cheetahs of South Africa and Georgia's Black Lion. The 18 teams are split into three pools of six, with the top three from each pool plus the three best-placed remaining clubs advancing to the round of 16, where they are joined by four sides dropping down from the Champions Cup.
