Bouncing Back

The Cell C Sharks Under 21s host the Sigma Lions Under 21 team this afternoon at Hollywoodbets Kings Park looking to deliver a resounding performance.

It’s been a tough campaign with matches against Western Province and the Blue Bulls first up, and it remains challenging when the Lions come to Durban.

“The campaign doesn’t get any easier, coming off the back of those two losses,” explains head coach Mike Vowles.

“It’s been a tough week, with the major focus on regrouping, assessing where we are and the areas we need to improve on.

“There were positives to take out of the game but we probably weren’t brave enough or played with enough confidence to finish off the opportunities we created and turn them into points and that’s been the focus for the Lions.

“We just have to be better and play with a bit more confidence and be a bit braver with the ball.”

Going into week three, there is a feeling of deja vu for Vowles and his team.

“This reminds me of the Under 20 season earlier in the year when we had back-to-back losses against Province and the Bulls, and then played the Lions and beat them by 60.”

Although he doesn’t expect such a big margin of victory, he is confident that the team can bounce back and deliver a similar performance.

“We are very motivated to get our season back on track, this is a great challenge.”
