A CHAT WITH ETHAN HOOKER

It’s been a season of triumphs and setbacks for Ethan Hooker. The 21-year-old Hollywoodbets Sharks centre injured himself during the 21 September VURC Benetton game, and was out of the game for four to five weeks. During those weeks, all he could do was focus on his rehab and look forward to the day he could step back onto the field.

That day is almost here. Ethan will be back playing in the Hollywoodbets Sharks vs DHL Stormers game on 30 November, and it’s going to be a big one.

Despite a bit of a shaky start to the VURC, the Hollywoodbets Sharks have found their footing – especially in the last two games against the Glasgow Warriors and Munster Rugby. “It really brought out who we are as a team, and I think we can work off something like that. I think we’re capable of a lot more than what we just did in those last two games, and I think we’re going a lot higher than those two games,” Ethan tells us in an exclusive interview.

“In those moments where things get very tough and the heat is hitting you, it’s very important that you have a strong leadership group and strong teammates around you that keep you going,” he adds. “We’re in this position because we want to be here, not because we have to be here.”
