Born in Qonce in the Eastern Cape and raised in nearby Breidbach, Jordan Hendrikse finished his schooling at Glenwood High School in Durban, where his all-round kicking and playmaking game marked him out early. From school he was snapped up by the Lions system in Johannesburg, and in 2022 he also turned out for the South Africa Sevens side, adding another string to his development.
Hendrikse made his senior Lions debut in the 2021 Rainbow Cup at just 19 and became a regular in the inaugural United Rugby Championship. In July 2024 he returned to Durban to join the Hollywoodbets Sharks - and his brother Jaden - making an immediate impact in the 2024 Currie Cup before establishing himself in the flyhalf role in the URC and EPCR competitions.
His crowning early moment came in the 2024 Currie Cup final, when his last-minute 59-metre penalty sealed the title, months after making his Springbok debut against Wales in June 2024. Still only 25, he remains central to the Sharks' plans and his own Springbok ambitions.
