Jason Jenkins was educated at St Alban's College in Pretoria before joining the Blue Bulls Academy, where he stood out in the U19 and U21 Provincial Championships and for UP Tuks in the 2015 Varsity Cup. That year he starred for the Junior Springboks at the World Rugby U20 Championship in Italy, scoring three tries as South Africa claimed the bronze medal.
Jenkins broke into the Bulls' senior side and represented South Africa 'A' in 2016, before making his Springbok Test debut against Wales in Washington, D.C. in June 2018 at 22. Spells with Toyota Verblitz in Japan, Munster and then Leinster - where he made 39 URC and Champions Cup appearances in two seasons - built a formidable CV before he returned home to join the Sharks for the 2024/25 URC season.
A capped Springbok with big-final experience across three countries, the 2.03 m lock brings hard-edged physicality and lineout quality, and remains a cornerstone of the Sharks' tight five heading into 2026/27.
