Scott Nel made his name in Western Cape schoolboy rugby, wearing the No 14 jersey for Western Province at the 2023 Stadio Craven Week in George, where he scored a try in the showpiece 29-5 win over the Blue Bulls as WP finished the tournament unbeaten.
Recruited to Durban after school, the outside back was named in SA Rugby's first-ever U19 Academy intake in late 2024 as a Hollywoodbets Sharks representative, training under Junior Springbok coaching staff in Stellenbosch. He formed part of the Sharks U21 squad in 2025, the year the side claimed the SA Rugby Under-21 Cup title.
Still awaiting his senior bow, Nel's pace and finishing instincts give the Sharks genuine depth out wide, and the 2026/27 Currie Cup training squad offers him the platform to force his way into first-team contention.
