Sipho Noneyela's rise is a story of relentless work ethic. Arriving at Kingswood College in Makhanda in 2023 as a Grade 11 pupil from Adelaide in the Eastern Cape, the destructive openside flank quickly built a fearsome reputation as a leading ball carrier, earning Eastern Province Academy selection in 2023 and EP Craven Week honours in 2024, from where he was elevated to the SA Schools A side and the SA U18 A team for the 2024 International Series. Awarded Honours for rugby and named head of Jagger House, he signed a three-year Sharks contract straight out of school.
He joined the Sharks U19 squad in 2025 and has progressed rapidly, earning a place on the Sharks XV bench in the 2026 Currie Cup, including the round-two trip to the Cheetahs.
With senior rugby now within touching distance, the abrasive fetcher looms as one of the Sharks' most exciting loose-forward prospects.
