The Hollywoodbets Sharks open their 2026/27 Vodacom United Rugby Championship campaign at Hollywoodbets Kings Park against the Ospreys on Saturday 26 September, before welcoming the defending champions, Leinster Rugby, to the Tank seven days later.
It is the first time the Hollywoodbets Sharks will begin a VURC season at home. And after the opening-round meeting with the Ospreys, Leinster will provide a very different — and very significant — test.
The Champions Come To Durban
Leinster arrive carrying the trophy.
Their 2026 Grand Final victory over the Vodacom Bulls secured a record-extending 10th league title, adding another chapter to one of the competition's most successful histories. They have also won four Champions Cup titles.
They know how to win this competition. And that is precisely what makes the fixture interesting for the Hollywoodbets Sharks.
There is no easing into the campaign. The Hollywoodbets Sharks will have one home game behind them. The crowd will have had its first taste of the new season. And then the reigning champions walk through the gates.
That is a chance to make a statement.

There is even a Hollywoodbets Sharks connection in the Leinster story.
Jason Jenkins spent two seasons in Dublin after joining Leinster in 2022, making 39 VURC and Champions Cup appearances for the province before returning to South Africa and joining the Hollywoodbets Sharks ahead of the 2024/25 season.
So when Leinster arrive in Durban, there will be at least one man in black and white who knows their environment from the inside.
