Meno Barnard came through the Hollywoodbets Sharks junior system, establishing himself as a physical, hard-working forward in the union's age-group structures. He was part of the Sharks Under-19 side that reached the national final in 2022, and in 2023 wore the No 7 jersey for the Sharks Under-20s in the SA Rugby Under-20 Cup under coach JP Pietersen.
Barnard stepped into senior rugby during the 2024 Carling Currie Cup, featuring in Sharks matchday squads as the union backed its next generation, and he has since been included in Hollywoodbets Sharks senior squad announcements for the United Rugby Championship. Now operating primarily at lock, the 1.92 m, 104 kg forward brings a strong work-rate at the set piece and around the field.
At 23, Barnard is part of a young Sharks tight-five contingent pushing for regular senior game time, and the 2026/27 Currie Cup campaign offers him the platform to cement his place.
