Bryce Calvert came through the Hollywoodbets Sharks junior pathway, featuring prominently in the union's age-group sides. He was part of the Sharks Under-19 team that reached the 2022 national final and started at hooker for the Sharks Under-20s in the 2023 SA Rugby Under-20 Cup, forming a long-standing front-row association with several teammates now alongside him in the Currie Cup squad.
Calvert made his senior Sharks debut in the 2024/25 United Rugby Championship, coming off the bench in the derby win over the Vodacom Bulls at Hollywoodbets Kings Park in December 2024, and adding a further URC appearance against the Stormers a week later. In 2026 he has established himself as the Sharks XV's starting hooker in the Carling Currie Cup, wearing the No 2 jersey through the opening rounds.
A combative, accurate set-piece operator in the Sharks' young hooking stocks, the 23-year-old is pushing hard for greater URC involvement in 2026/27.
