Born in Thaba 'Nchu and schooled at HTS Louis Botha in Bloemfontein, Ox Nche came through Free State's junior ranks, playing Under-16 Grant Khomo Week in 2011 and Craven Week in 2012 and 2013, earning SA Schools selection in both years. He won the 2015 Varsity Cup with the UFS Shimlas and claimed bronze with South Africa Under-20 at the 2015 World Rugby U20 Championship.
He turned professional with the Cheetahs, playing Currie Cup and Pro14 rugby from 2016 to 2019, before moving to Durban in 2020. In Sharks colours he has become a URC, Currie Cup and EPCR stalwart, anchoring the scrum in the 2024 EPCR Challenge Cup triumph.
Nche debuted for the Springboks in 2018 and has amassed 47 Test caps, winning the 2023 Rugby World Cup and the 2024 and 2025 Rugby Championships, with a 2025 World Rugby Player of the Year nomination confirming his status as the world's premier loosehead. He remains the cornerstone of the Sharks scrum.
