Thomas Dyer built his reputation as a powerful, ball-carrying loose forward at Hilton College, earning selection to the KZN Sharks main trials group in 2022 as one of the province's standout schoolboy forwards. He moved straight into the Sharks junior system, featuring for the Sharks Under-20s in the 2023 SA Rugby Under-20 Cup as the union's next generation took shape.
Dyer made his senior Sharks debut in the United Rugby Championship against Cardiff in May 2024, aged just 19, and captained the Sharks Under-21 side before earning further URC minutes in the 2025/26 season. His leadership has been formally recognised in 2026: he captains the Sharks XV in the Carling Currie Cup, leading from No 8 through the opening rounds against the Pumas, Cheetahs and Stormers XXIII.
At 1.96 m and 114 kg, with tireless tackle counts and trusted carrying, the 21-year-old is viewed as a long-term leadership figure in Durban.
