A former pupil of famed rugby nursery Hoerskool Boland Landbou in Paarl, Christoff Etzebeth carries one of the most recognisable surnames in South African rugby. A relative of Springbok great Eben Etzebeth, the young loosehead prop earned age-grade recognition in the Western Cape schools system before being signed into the Sharks junior structures.
Etzebeth was a member of the Hollywoodbets Sharks U21 squad in 2025, packing down in the SA Rugby U21 Cup campaign, and in 2026 turned out for Durban-based Emeris in their debut Varsity Cup season. He credits his famous relative as an active mentor, with Eben reviewing his match footage and offering advice before big games.
Determined to carve his own path rather than trade on the family name, the 20-year-old front-ranker brings genuine scrummaging pedigree to the Currie Cup training group as he pushes for a first senior appearance in the Black and White.
