Siyabonga Praisegod Masuku hails from Paulpietersburg in KwaZulu-Natal and honed his game at Piet Retief High School before entering the Golden Lions junior ranks. His was no overnight rise: stints with the Lions, Southern Kings and Toyota Cheetahs - where a monster long-range penalty beat Pau in the Challenge Cup and a 19-point haul sank the Bulls in the Currie Cup - forged a reputation for clutch goal-kicking.
Signed by the Hollywoodbets Sharks ahead of the 2023/24 season, Masuku made his first start in March 2024 and never looked back, racking up 49 points in eight URC outings. His crowning moment came in the 2024 EPCR Challenge Cup final at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, kicking 21 points as the Sharks beat Gloucester 36-22 - capping 71 points in just four matches in the competition, including a Man-of-the-Match semi-final against Clermont.
Now 30, Masuku brings proven big-game temperament and leadership to the Sharks flyhalf group for 2026/27.
