Hanu Pieterse earned his stripes at Hilton College, where his performances secured selection at No 12 for the Sharks' 2024 U18 Craven Week side - one of only a handful of Hilton boys in that squad - before joining the Hollywoodbets Sharks U19 group for the 2025 season.
He has moved quickly through the pathway. Barely a year out of school, Pieterse was named in the Sharks XV matchday 23 for the 2026 Currie Cup opener against the Pumas at Mbombela Stadium and retained his bench spot for the Cheetahs and Stormers XXIII fixtures that followed, marking him as one of the youngest members of the Currie Cup group.
Versatile, physical and still growing into his frame, Pieterse's early inclusion in senior matchday squads signals the coaching staff's faith in his ceiling, and the 2026/27 season offers him the stage to convert promise into a permanent first-team berth.
