Trevor Ntando Nyakane hails from Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga and attended Hoerskool Ben Vorster in Tzaneen, where he played first-team rugby for two years and built the scrummaging foundations of a remarkable career, progressing through junior representative rugby in the north.
His senior career began with the Free State Cheetahs in 2010 before a long spell at the Bulls from 2015 to 2021, followed by two seasons with Racing 92 in the French Top 14. In 2024 the Sharks confirmed his homecoming, and the veteran front-ranker debuted for the Durban franchise in the 2024/25 URC, adding vast experience to a star-studded pack alongside fellow Springboks. He made his Test debut for South Africa in 2013 and has amassed more than 60 caps.
A double Rugby World Cup winner (2019 and 2023), Nyakane's rare ability to cover both sides of the scrum makes him an invaluable asset for the Sharks in 2026/27.
