A product of Durban's famed Glenwood High School, Kerron van Vuuren came through the Sharks junior ranks after being spotted at schoolboy level, joining the Sharks Academy and representing the union at age-grade level from 2013. While developing his game he studied at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, turning out for UKZN in the Varsity Cup and sharpening the set-piece fundamentals that would become his calling card.
Van Vuuren graduated to the Sharks XV in 2016 and made his Currie Cup bow in 2017, going on to serve the union across Currie Cup, Super Rugby and the URC through 2024, with a loan spell at the Southern Kings in 2018. After a stint with the Seattle Seawolves in Major League Rugby and time in France, he returned home to the Sharks in April 2026 on a short-term deal, adding experienced cover at hooker.
One of the most seasoned front-rowers in the group, his scrummaging, lineout accuracy and know-how make him an invaluable mentor for the young hookers coming through.
