Wasi Vyambwera captained Maritzburg College's First XV from No 8, earning a reputation as a prototypical College loose forward who thrives on physicality and the hard graft. His schoolboy form brought national recognition: selection for the SA U18 side, where he wore the blindside flank jersey, and inclusion in the 2025 SA Schools setup.
He stepped straight into the Junior Springbok setup in 2026 while still U19, featuring in the U20 Rugby Championship title-winning campaign, including the decisive clash with Australia. He has not yet made a senior Sharks appearance.
Still eligible for age-grade rugby, Vyambwera is one of the most exciting forwards in the Sharks pipeline, and the 2026/27 season is about building a senior body of work.
