Yaw Osei Penxe grew up in Queenstown in the Eastern Cape and starred for Queen's College, twice representing Border at the U18 Craven Week (2014 and 2015) and spending an exchange term at Kirkham Grammar School in England. A gifted all-round athlete, he also competed provincially in sprint relays and triple jump.
After school he joined the Eastern Province Kings academy, making his first-class debut in the 2016 Currie Cup qualifiers, before establishing himself as a standout PRO14 performer for the Southern Kings. When the Kings folded in 2020 the Sharks moved quickly, and Penxe made an instant impact in the 2020 Currie Cup, memorably scoring a match-winning try against the Bulls. He has since been a consistent try-scoring presence in the Sharks' URC and EPCR campaigns.
Penxe's form has brought national recognition through Springbok squad call-ups, and his finishing power remains a potent weapon for 2026/27.
