Born in Zimbabwe and raised in Johannesburg, Darrien Landsberg attended Northcliff High School before being drawn into the Lions system in 2018, coming through the union's age-grade structures as a mobile, athletic second-rower with a serious engine.
Landsberg made his senior breakthrough with the Pumas in Super Rugby Unlocked in 2020 and was part of their historic Currie Cup triumph in 2022. Returning to the Lions that year, he made his URC debut against the Scarlets - initially at flank - before establishing himself as a first-choice lock, amassing 90 caps across the URC, EPCR Challenge Cup and Currie Cup. In July 2026 he joined the Sharks, filling the void left by World Cup winner Marvin Orie.
Approached by Zimbabwe in 2024, Landsberg declined in pursuit of his Springbok dream. A lineout leader in his prime years, he arrives in Durban determined to force his way into national contention.
