Deon Slabbert's rugby journey began in the Sharks youth ranks between 2016 and 2018 before he set off on a route through South African rugby's provinces. The towering 2.00 m, 117 kg lock cut his senior teeth at the SWD Eagles in 2021 before establishing himself at the Pumas, where he made his Currie Cup debut in 2022 and was part of the union's historic maiden Currie Cup title that season, adding a runners-up medal in 2024.
Stints with the Bulls in the URC and Champions Cup - including the 2024 URC final campaign - broadened his experience before he returned home, joining the Sharks in January 2025. He made URC appearances in 2024/25 and became a mainstay of the Sharks XV's Currie Cup pack.
A proven, durable second-rower in his prime years, Slabbert brings hard-earned know-how and set-piece grunt to the 2026/27 Currie Cup campaign.
