Born in Pretoria on May 9, 1996, Michael Kumbirai was schooled at St Alban’s College, before heading to the Cape to study economics and finance at UCT – and also play rugby for Ikeys.
Named WP U19 Forward of the Year in 2015, he accumulated 36 senior provincial caps in the hooped jersey and last year also earned his maiden Super Rugby cap for the Stormers.
Now based in Durban, the combination of his Zimbabwean ancestry and obvious tighthead talent should see him strive to attain the same heights as someone like ‘The Beast’.
